Guam goes one step further and makes shopping on the island more enjoyable and relaxing. The Guam Visitors Bureau announces the start of the fifth annual Shop Guam e-Festival (SGF), a world class global campaign aimed at creating an interactive shopping experience for residents and visitors, while highlighting Guam as a modern, fashionable, and diverse destination to shop.
This year’s festival begins on Dec. 1, 2016 and will last through Feb. 4, 2017 for a total of 66 days. Started in 2012, this shopping festival has gained popularity and strength with every passing year and has garnered a staggering $11.4 million in 2015, attracting over 400,000 visitor arrivals during the campaign period and with several participating retailers reporting over $10,000 worth of Shop Guam Festival offer redemptions.
The 2016 Shop Guam e-Festival is part of the GVB’s vision of “Smart Tourism.”, utilizing IOT (Internet of Things) concept to design an integrated campaign. The 2016 Shop Guam e-Festival mobile app will also be the first application powered by the Smart Guam System delivering an immersive shopping and visiting experience for Guam’s global customers. The app will be in six different languages of Guam’s tourism source markets and will do away with wasteful print coupon booklets and go for the lightweight Shop Guam e-Festival Savings Passport to encourage mobile app download by tourists with opportunity to enter into a mobile sweepstakes for a chance of winning monthly shopping prizes.
