Run In Guam, Run with Guam

GIM

The Annual Guam International Marathon is a great experience, and it does not matter whether you are a runner or just cheering the participants from the sidelines. It is a chance to enjoy what many call the Pearl of the Pacific. Guam is indeed a pearl and stuns you with breathtaking scenes, right out of a photography journal. The marathon event is Guam’s premier running event and is being organized by Guam Visitors Bureau, along with Pacific Islands Club, Guam and United Airlines. This year’s event will mark the 4th Annual Guam International Marathon and is scheduled to be held on Sunday, April 10, 2016. The event includes four disciplines, 5K, 10K, Half Marathon (13.1 miles) and Full Marathon (26.2 miles) race distances.

The race, as any marathon, is a test of endurance and when you have such a scenic race course as the Guam island, would you want to miss this? The race starts at 3:00 am from the Gov. Joseph A Flores Memorial Park, Ypao beach and ends at the same point. There will also be a finisher’s Beach Party at 6:30 a.m.at at the finish point. The GIM marathon course has been certified by AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) and IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federation), and also is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
